About us
Rawene Centre
The Rawene Centre was set up in 2001 by Birkenhead Community Church in association with Rawene Community Christian Trust (previously Willow Christian Trust) as a community centre for groups from our local area to use. It has three functioning levels totaling 3000 sqm and around 2000 people using its facilities each week.
As well as being the home of our church, our vision for Rawene Centre is to see it become a focal point for our community. We hope to see Rawene Centre being utilised to capacity with BCC ministries and initiatives for our community. This gives us the opportunity to build bridges to our community, forge friendships, and actively demonstrate God’s amazing love to the people we come in contact with.
BCC set up the Rawene Community Christian Trust to oversee the Centre and to manage its use. The Manager is Elissa McConchie, who is available Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.
We have a lot of BCC ministries currently working out of the building, along with many community groups who call Rawene Centre home. Current tenants at the Centre include:
- In Work
- Onewa Parent Centre
- Eden Presbyterian Korean Church
And other groups using the facilities:
- Onewa Parents Centre
- Russian Centre
- Performance.net
Even with all these groups in action, there is still plenty of opportunity to rent further space or use it for local community functions. Just contact us.
The building contains an auditorium which seats 350 people. There is a large function room, with spectacular views of Auckland city. This can seat 100 people around tables, and has a commercial quality kitchen. There are also a variety of meeting rooms, with space for 10-40 people.
A very large unlined area is also available, suitable for concerts, youth events and art exhibitions. It can easily take 300 people. The Centre also has a recording studio.
